Since I was a kid, I have been fascinated by images. My father was a photographer and I have been living in a photographic world for as long as I can remember. It is therefore admiration and curiosity that led me to create my own images.
RC. How did photography become your profession ?
Photography was initially a passion that took more and more place in my life. From journey to architecture to learn how to compose and finally to get to portrait, I have evolved a lot in my work and fell in love with images creation.
It's part of my work today because I'm a freelance digital designer and photography is 50 percent of my activity. The most important thing for me in photography is artistic meetings. All these experiences let me develop myself and create my personality as an artist.
RC. What are your sources of inspiration ?
I'm a great dreamer and my brain often goes "600 miles an hour" day and night. It's a good thing, because I can get "30 ideas per second", but it's also complicated to build a coherent project. That's why music is usually a way for me to visualize atmospheres, create images with notes and lyrics. Also, it lets me refocus my thoughts when I am preparing a project.
Of course, I can draw my inspiration from the work of other photographers, friends or colleagues, I admire. Often photographers are afraid to "copy" but I think we have our own style and we can bring a different vision of a same project.
RC. Can you present a project in particular ?
It's hard to choose... Each project was unique to me, rich in meetings and learning.
I can tell you about a shooting that I implemented in collaboration with Quentin Décaillet. Quentin is a photographer and I admire his work because he has got a real style and great skills in studio and post-prod technique. He is also a very good trainer ! We could work together on a shot with 2 models and 2 setups each. But in the morning, one model did not come. So I went to the other side of the lens (I'm also a model so it wasn't too complicated) and it was really interesting because I could see how Quentin worked and shaped his setup light. In the afternoon, we were able to make 2 different projects with the same model. That's the proof that 2 photographers can implement 2 different styles with the same project ! I carried out a YouTube video of this shot, see below :
RC. What's your favorite brand ?
I've been working with a Fujifilm X-T3 for one and a half year and I adore it. Small, practical and powerful, this camera is incredible. I have a 35mm 1.4 and a 90mm f2 (sublime for portraits and especially in studio).
I have chosen Fujifilm because I do like the spirit of the brand, the camera ergonomics, its functionalities, capacities and performances...
I recommend this great brand if you love beautiful things !
Anyway, it's not the camera that makes the photographer, never forget it !
RC. Could you share technical tips with us ?
I don't really have a technical tip to share. I'd like to say, have fun. You can create anything with almost nothing. There are no techniques to apply, only let creativity do its job, the technique will come along while creating and testing new things. And then, when you will need more precise knowledge for shooting, lighting, and post-prod (which may become the case for commercial work), get more information, discuss, exchange, train with the best professionals and you will be proud of yourself and your work. We all make mistakes but it 's a good thing to progress !
RC. Do you have coming plans ?
I have some cool business plans to come (wait for this confinement to end...).Personally, I want to bring more creativity in the stylism, colors and composition of my images. I love faces (I think it's visible in my work !). But I also want to compose other projects with a creative team.
I'd love to exhibit my work one day. It's not planning so far, but I'm thinking about it ! A simple exhibition with several artists to spend a good time showing different styles.
