RC. What's your background ?

I've been tinkering with cameras since 2004. I practiced on editing software at that time, when I was 14. It was not so obvious as today because of material capacity. But I loved editing images to music. I needed to create things, to dream.

After my Science Degree I went to ESRA Brittany for 3 years. I've been handling cameras and editing software since I was 14, this allowed me to have a technical basic knowledge before I joined ESRA. During my studies, I was able to really understand all the settings of a SLR case ; understand how each setting interfered with the others, which was very helpful in developing the rest. I then worked a lot on the frame as a cameraman, to continue towards production.

RC. What are your inspirations and how do your creative ideas come from ?

I really like the style of Americans who dare much more on certain aspects.Their coloration is'nt so timid as the French one. I regularly move around social media, more specifically Instagram and YouTube. It's a good idea to consume content to be inspired by what's happening internationally, but with hindsight I would advise not to be in excess of this consumption, to avoid useless mental overload which could be harmful for creativity.

RC. Which material and set up do you use?

For most of my filming I use a setup quite "run & gun" that I upgrade as needed. It's made up of a Sony A7III case (which allows me to make video and photography), some optical (50mm, 16-35mm, 70-200mm),and a stabilizer like Ronin S for example. If I need to use cinema cameras, setup and logistics change completely. It is important to adapt your setup to the project in order to make it more efficient.

RC. What is your favorite project ? Can you tell an anecdote ?

Which is great in our circle is that every project is different, with their positive and negative aspects. And even if a project might seem less interesting at first sight, in the end, you always learn a lot of things. I really enjoyed the filming with François Feldman. Last October, I went to Kilimanjaro for a documentary project about the climb of 5 women. The director and I were both at the frame. It was impressive, the physical effort to climb the Kili as well as filming and working. We clearly outperformed ourselves for eight days. It was my most intense shooting. I'm preparing a personal video about this, I want to share my feelings about this experience.

RC. what's your favorite brand or material ?

In terms of box, I was at Canon at the beginning, but when Canon did not evolve video materiel, I changed to Sony. I went from the Canon SLR to the Sony Mirrorless, and for some strange reasons, I stopped phototography for 2 years. I didn't like not using a mirror. Ergonomically speaking, I felt like I was shooting on the iPhone ! The A7S2 I had only offered 12Mp in photo and that didn't suit me. Today my A7III is more suitable. I still don't like Sony colors -Vs Canon colors- but Sony video is superior. Wait and see. I also use the DJI brand a lot for their stabilizers and drones. I have been a partner of the brand for a while. They're going at a fearful rate in terms of development, and they don't have any competitor in this area.

RC. Do you have a technical tip to share?

If you shoot outside, either by choice or because of the budget, I really advise you to choose your time slot. Play with "golden hour", sunrise and sunset. The lights are impressive, compared to the very harsh midday light. But with nature, we never know what specific conditions we will get. The beauty of this is surprises and ... adaptation.

RC. Do you have projects ?

At the time of confinement, I had a lot of projects canceled or moved. I have a few clip shots, corpo, videos for Paris to make. At the same time, I am working on my YouTube channel with personal projects, tutorials, reviews, and look at my upcoming trips.
